Almost Done
So now that i have settled on a concentration (serving platters), i have been chuggin along. I have one of my peices (the basket handled one) in the wood kiln. Tommorrow we are unloading it!... i hope it turns out ok. I finishe the knob handled one and a new one that i started yesterday. This time i used pendelton red instead of umpqua white. I was surprised about how much i liked the change. I really like handbuilidng and throwing with it (even though it is a bit gritty). All of my dishes will probably be made of this clay. Since we have so much school off, i just thought i would start early. So pretty much, i have no deadlines to really worry about. But what i do need to work on is photographing for scholastic art awards!

Starting
Here is a platter that i have started. It is for my concentration. It is going to have knob handles and some sort of texture. Yesterday I loaded the wood kiln. I was going to have my layered platter go in the firing, but it broke in the bisque kiln. So just my basket handled casserole dish and a large bowl went in. I need to remake the layered platter, which wont be hard, its just kindof a bummer. But i have learned from the past not to get too attached to your projects because there is always a chance they will break (especially when dealing with clay). But all in all, im just pumped for starting my concentration and glad i have a head start. Since Amy will be gone for second semester, there wont be any more wood firings. So i will be making some glazes. I want to use glazes that have tan, orange, red, brown, and black in them.
