New Mexico

This weekend in New Mexico is balloon fiesta and green chile season. And yes, it's a great reason to miss 3 days of school. I was born in Albuqurque, so it's also great visting my home land. I love how wild it is here; it's like you stepped into a time machine and went back 20 years. I have spent my days watching hot air balloons fill the sky and stuffing myself with green chiles (which are so good. we even brought a extra suitcase for taking home some roasted green chiles. hopefully its legal...). New Mexico is full of galleries. I found so many artists that have inspired me. Many of them dont have websites because they are local. I went to the manitou gallery, chuck jones gallery, the Peterson-Cody gallery, Houshang gallery, Georgia O'Keeffe museum, corrales bosque gallery, and way to many more. Anyways. Our next project is just to do anything you want (quality of course). I really want to do more handbuilding, because i mostly just throw pottery. A local new mexican artist called Elaine Fein does these awesome layered plates. She raku fired them, but since i plan on eating off them, i will do some other firing. I really want to do some cone 10 firing, i dunno if amy will approve. Also Hib Sabin does these cool animal head out off wood. I want to hand build these out of clay and possibly make them into lids for some pots. I also want to work with more organic and free form shapes. The list of ideas goes on... Here's list of the artists (who do have websites, sadly most don't) below.
